Counter Strike 1.6 working on Ubuntu with wine

If you install the game with wine you will have some nice shortcuts on the desktop.

I’m using an already installed version so I start the game with that command:
wine hl.exe -game cstrike
But the reason for the post is the problem with the sound. The fix that I apply and Counter Strike 1.6 works perfectly fine now is the following:
run:
winecfg
and there under the Audio tab I change the sound driver used: ALSA was checked, so I uncheck that and check OSS driver instead. After that there was some delay with the sound so I reduced the quality a bit. ( don’t make that much difference when the sound is only ‘bam-bam-bam-bam’ 😛 )
The configuration panel looks like this:
Enjoy playing 🙂
