Freshman Trip VIA UC, Olufsborg, Denmark 2008

It was Wednesday morning ( 27 Aug. ) when I got up and felt that the next 3 days are going to be awesome. Yeah! It was terrific!

Day 1,

We went to VIA UC about 7:10 in the morning because a professor got us (me and my roommate) with his car – really unexpectedly. At about 8 o’clock all students were separated into groups and got on the bus for Olufsborg. When we got there we put our luggage in the rooms that were made for about 12 people. Some guys complained about that but I considered it not so bad. After that came the auction. Every group was given 100 points. We had to buy the assignments for the rest of the days staying in Oulfsborg. Our team won 1 Jackpot (a beer for everyone of the group) and had to clean after the first lunch. We did everything alright. After that we played about 5 different games some of which were completely crazy! Finding a candy in a bowl full of flour was a lot of fun. I got 2 :P. After the games we had some spare time to talk to each other and drink beer. We had dinner about … I don’t know actually when we had dinner but don’t have any complaints about it because it was a really nice one. The next one was the party with lots of drinking and dancing. We finished about 3 o’clock in the morning or something like that.

Day 2,

In the morning we had to get up at about 8:30. It was really difficult for me because I was dancing all night and I couldn’t move a muscle when I woke up. The only reason I got up was that I was hungry like hell. I couldn’t stand it anymore. 😛 After having breakfast we had an O-walk to the seaside (or it was a lake, I don’t know but the water was salty 😛 ) We had a competition who is going to swim to a boat in the water. Well about 7 boys, including me, got into the water and swam to the boat. It was really cool, I mean it was nice but the water was cold like ice. Cameras from the shore took pictures of us so we had to make a show off in the water. We shouted something in Finish, I suppose, and then hit the water. When we got out of the water we felt it was hot out there 😛 Yeah, really hot, I didn’t want to put my clothes on so soon. 😛 About 10 minutes later we decided to go back to Oulfsborg and there we waited for a team to prepare our lunch. After that we had a building assignment. You can’t imagine how funny it was. We had to make a machine (made only of wood and some nails and a wire) that can pour a beer into a glass without spilling any beer, to fill it up and then get the bottle of beer in its starting position. We had about 120 min. to do the task and then prepare a presentation about our machine, why it was so good and why you have to choose our product to pour a beer in to glass. Our team did alright, we experienced some problems but after all ours was one of the best ones. In the evening we had a Gala dinner. Some of us were wearing suits. It was really exciting because we already know each other more or less and it was really fun. The dinner was a really good one. There were about 4 different kinds of salad. We had also 3 kinds of meat. The other thing I really liked was the sangria. It’s a drink made of red wine, rum, some carbonated drinks and chops of fruits. After that we had so much fun I didn’t have since my graduate prom. It liked it very much, everybody was so drunk, and having so much party that about 4 o’clock in the morning we had a fire outside. We started dancing and singing and playing the guitar till sunrise. When I got to bed the sun was shining…

Day 3,

Early in the morning (I slept about 2 hours) we had breakfast and then we had to prepare our baggage to go home (to Horsens). I don’t remember how but at about 12 o’clock we were in Horsens in front of the University. We had to move all the boxes of beers and other drinks inside the University and after that some of us had a beer and a snack in the canteen but me and my roommate had to walk about 30 minutes to go to our accommodation.

To sum up, it was very exciting and interesting for everyone to have such a trip because everybody comes from another country with different customs and traditions and it really refreshing to be able to communicate with people from different countries. We were going to meet each other someday, maybe, but it was easier to talk when you are isolated in the woods, holding a beer. 😛
